This is the tale of a ………

Let’s see, how did the Gilligan’s Island theme go…..”two hour tour? three hour tour?”…..something like that. And we all know what happened after that right? Tomorrow our team heads for places unknown, sort of. We have never been there but actually it’s just a little bit southwest of St. Louis. We don’t believe we will end up on a deserted island but just what happens when we get there is indeed a mystery to us.
Over a year ago our team had the pleasure of meeting another group from the Springfield area. Larry Wilson and his team contacted us and we started sharing stories about our investigations. One of their stories included their recent investigation of the Morse Mill Hotel in Missouri. They were very excited about what they had found in the way of evps and audible sounds. The activity here was quite appealing to them and recommended we try to come down sometime to investigate.
Well, it took us awhile to get the time to make plans to travel for this investigation. We set it up in late winter so we have been looking forward to it all year. The old hotel has been a home and hotel, seeing many different personalities come through it’s door. Al Capone was there, actually it was confirmed that he did come there on one of his many bootlegging expeditions. Charlie Chaplain used to stop by too to check out the young women there. Our favorite though is a notorious character named Bertha, the first female serial killer in the United States. Bertha liked to cook and did cook at the hotel at one time. It’s the spices that she added to her delicious meals that people died for. Literally, died for. Bertha is buried in the cemetery close by and we are hoping to get a glimpse of the woman who finished her days in an asylum for the mentally insane, howling like a dog.
We just never know what to expect when we go into an investigation, the same as all investigators everywhere. We will be trying a couple of different theories this time. We will be using one of Michael Esposito’s cds of vintage audio frequencies to see if it does raise the frequency level for sound waves to travel through. We will also get our drunk on, at least try to look like we are, to imitate the speak easys of old. It will be a long night but we truly hope an interesting night. With any luck, our ships will sail out of there with our full crew aboard, taking only evidence and experiences, leaving behind those souls and their stories for the next group of investigators to explore.
